They may never name a building after you to go down dilapidated.
You might not ever get a hometown parade in your honor.
No medals of freedom or Kennedy Center Honors may ever don your name.
No boulevards may ever carry your likeness.

Show up anyway.
Be the light of God anyway.
Do what you’re here to do + be who you’re here to be anyway.

Because their recognition isn’t your reward.

You show up every day because it’s your calling.

You can’t NOT do what you’re been called to do.

The pain of living someone else’s expectations is too great to continue. But do not collapse under the gravity of others grabbing at you.

Turn your head all the way around.
Center your attention on yourself.
Anchor into who you truly are + move forward from that place.

Buildings and parades and boulevards will come + go. Their glory is temporary. Their validation is fleeting.

Soul centered justification only happens when you’re centered in your soul — not approval, understanding or acceptance.

As within, so without.

Tend to the kingdom of God within you and watch the world outside of you transform.

You are already whole and holy, born the light of love. Let all resistances and justifications of your limitations melt away.

What remains is all of you — unbowed, unbossed + brilliant.

The world may never see your glory, recognize your magnificence or know the meaning of your name.

Show up + show out anyway.
