Cut my spiritual teeth on AME church pews. Sunday school, church service, youth usher board, Young People’s Department. My spiritual foundation is the house that Richard Allen built.
Every day after school from 1st-6th grade, my entire world is at The Girls Club making art, magic and meaning together. We see ourselves in each other + birth lifelong sisterships.
My family hosts Dr. Maya Angelou when she visits Seattle. Having found a kindred spirit, I feel deeply seen, celebrated and loved on. Seeds of Quantum Legacy are planted.
Dropped out of college to travel the world. Turned 20 in India, survived an avalanche trekking the Nepalese Himalayas, people watched on the French Riveria. My eyes opened, soul awakened.
Started SisterFire, a monthly all-women healing circle on Spelman College’s campus that ran for more than 10 years. This sacred space is the mother root of Black Girl Mystic.
Graduated Spelman College 8 years after my incoming class with a BA in Comparative Women’s Studies. Baptized a radical Black feminist, ready to create new worlds.
Rediscovered my self with my sisters at a sacred annual gathering in the backwoods of Michigan. My entire world becomes new. Thank you Amazons.
