Perfectionism is Pretending

Perfectionism pretends…

You’re not human.
You can’t make mistakes.
Earth isn’t a playground for learning.
Your best isn’t good enough.
That it actually exists.
You’re not worthy right now.
Someone else knows better.
Self-compassion is futile.
Mistakes + mishaps aren’t our best teachers.
You should have known better.
You could have done better.

You can’t be happy without it.

Perfectionism is hiding you from your humanity + the growing pains of being alive.

Perfectionism pretends to keep you “safe,” purporting that if everything was in perfect place, you would be protected from failure and hurt and harm.

Failure, not perfectionism, is the master teacher. It is the ultimate connector.

The willingness to try your best, to put something new & unprecedented into the world & RISK failing is actually the BEST teacher. It is the BEST way to learn + grow.

Not squirreling away your gifts, talents, insights + offerings in your proverbial workshop waiting for them to ripen into perfection.

You must remember you were born perfect.
You were born in grace.

You don’t have to have to earn it or prove yourself worthy.
Worthiness is your birthright.

So, do your best.

Show up in excellence. Give it your all.

Let yourself off the unattainable hook of perfectionism. Bask in the glow of your uniqueness.

Let life be your teacher. You do not have to get an A in this.

Your real A comes from LIVING — doing + failing + learning + doing it again — NOT from getting it all correct on the first time.

Your perfectionism does not serve or protect you. It keeps you small, temporarily stunts your growth, distorts your self-perception.

Perfectionism hypnotizes you to believe that you CAN fail, that you’re not already perfect as you are.
Perfectionism is a myth based on the lie that you, this moment and creation are not already perfect — right here + now, that there’s something to fix, that the universe + the One who created it are out of order.

You are perfect, whole, ever expanding good — always and in all ways.

You are here to learn, grow, expand and become more + more of your unlimited self.

There is no way to fail. Perfection is every step of the process.

Breathe. Trust your truth. Own + honor that there is nowhere else to be and nothing else to do.
Show up. Do your your best. Give it your everything.

And turn it all over to God. Surrender your efforts and the outcome to divine flow. Trust that you have infinite grace to learn and grow without risking your innate perfection.

So, take risks. Be brave + bold + big.
Stop waiting for approval + asking for permission.
